Hola todos!
Espero que ustedes tuvieran una buena semana. Y que todo estuviera bien. This week has been a lot different because of lots of changes but its been really good and is only getting better each day.
So I'm training mijo Elder Schmidt. He is on his 2nd Transfer and is a super diligent hard worker. He is a really good missionary and knows how to do the work really well, but he can hardly speak Spanish. I'm just glad I can speak well enough to communicate with the people, but definitely is a challenge to help him progress and learn the language like I did. Poco a poco
So I got transferred to a New ward, Riverton 22nd. We cover most of Riverton and Bluffdale and to be honest the population density of Latinos is very little. It's pretty hard to find but we are working through it and have in a lot of good plans for this transfer. It's definitely been a little harder to adjust to the family ward from YSA, but lo que sea.
I also was called to be District Leader. It's been kinda nice because a have a good District but at the same time it would've been nice to not have to worry about more than just your area haha. But it's pretty easy so far so I'm not going to complain. I just hope everything will stay super chill like how it is now
Change is nice but also not rip. Definitely has been a hard adjustment especially with the District Leader Trainer as well as being in a new ward for the first time. But I know the Lord doesn't put us in situations that he knows we couldn't overcome.
Francesco and Tairi !!! LESSSS GOOOOO!!! I'm so happy for their decision to be baptized and they have some of the strongest testimonies of the people I've taught. They are also some of mis amigos mejores here in the mission. I can't waite to go with them to the temple soon!!
We are helping out an inactive family, the Duran's. They are super cool and also are apparently on the do not contact list for the stake so uh yeah. But they are super nice ppl and are really making progress. It was the coolest miracle because right before we left they were like oh yeah we are baptizing our 2 daughters and we want you to help teach them and know everything before they get baptized. So that was sick because apparently they went super ready at all before, but they talked with bishop and now they're daughters are getting baptized March 14th!
Also just a stupid story but I met this wards mission leader, Hermano Wallsman, and he is a nugget haha. He is a white guy who served his mission in Guatemala and he married a Latina. And I have no clue how he married the wife he has but he must've done something right haha. His Spanish isn't the greatest, but Anyways we went to knock some doors with him and he just didn't pick up on some social cues. Like the first door we knocked he just stuck his hand in the door right away to shake the guy's hand and the dude was like what the heck and almost slammed the door on our faces haha. And then Hno wallsman also called a guy we are teaching and immediately just asked if he's home with no context and the guy was like uhhh no..why? But Hno Wallsman is a nugget haha but is a really awesome guy and is always trying to help us the best he can.
Overall a slower week but a nice change none the less. Definitely miss the Spanish YSA but every area has its ups and downs. Definitely growing to love this ward a ton.
Hope yalls week is todo Fino
