¡Hola todos!
This week has been absolutely crazyyy! I got sent straight to the best area with the best companion, Elder Whitman. We are in the Spanish YSA ward which covers the whole area of the mission. And we have a car which is super nice because we can basically go anywhere in the mission we want to eat. Also there are tons of places here that give missionaries a fat discount or give us food for free so thats a huge bonus.
There has been a ton of milagros and amazing experiences this week so I'll just write some of the highlights so you don't have to read a chunky email.
The first day was super cool because we got to do a hike with the mission president and all the 35 new missionaries and there was an amazing view of the draper temple and the entire mission.
We have had tons of lessons this week and have a super packed schedule throughout the whole day so we are always super busy. And all the people we teach are from different places in South America and they all speak with different accents so I have not clue what the people are saying half the time. So I just kind of smile and nod my head while they talk until they ask me a question and I have no clue what they said so my companion just answers for me haha. But I keep improving and understanding more and more each day.
Since I'm in the YSA ward we have a ton of activities each week. We mostly play a lot of soccer and basketball with a bunch of the members and their non member friends. So it's a great opportunity to invite others and to have a good time.
We also had a lesson this week at the Salt Lake temple at the family history and Joseph Smith centers which is cool because my area is one of the only ones that can do that. Hopefully the temple gets done with construction soon so I can go inside. And we also took a slight detour on the way back to the visit the capitol which is absolutely massive.
Elder Whitman also just got word that he will be leaving September 30th for his original assignment in Canada. Which means I have like 2 weeks to learn the area well enough to be alright while he's gone. And hopefully I get a new companion that is as good at teaching as he is.
But so much has happened and I have only been here for a week! I could write about way more, but I know most don't have the time for that. Its amazing here and I feel the love the Lord has for all His children and I know that He knows each of us by name and wants us to return will Him again
Also here's a quick scripture:
D&C 6:36
"Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not."
I love this scripture because of how simple it is. All we need to do is trust in the Lord and fear not because He will help us throughout our trials and provide a way for us to endure them.
Love,
Elder Randall
